texts

It's getting close...time to give up the phone. OK, I'm not giving up my phone. I'm quitting everything on the phone besides actual calls.
FOR.
A.
WHOLE.
MONTH.

Sometimes I waste hours-HOURS-a day on my phone. Pinterest? Facebook? Texting? Instagram? [I just realized a month without Instagram. Nooooooooooo! Why must I put myself through this self-inflicted torture??]

I'm both looking forward and dreading this.

When I'm living life without texting I'll have to have conversations like these on g-chat or facebook. This could be difficult since I don't even have internets at my house.
Untitled Untitled
  • My brother thinks the Goodyear blimp actually flew overhead while he was playing golf because he was playing. [Kidding. It was a random occurrence.]
  • My friends are looking out for me, you can too. I love gingers.

Untitled Untitled
  • I should show you a picture of the dress I made. I really do look like I should be in Little House on the Prairie. Note to self: do not make clothing. Also, my friends are now texting me pictures of their manicures. I love this.
  • There's a song where the first line is "socially awkard amy." It was composed for me. If the un-named, random Manchester person is reading this: I'm sorry for not remembering you and being awkward.
Untitled Untitled
  • I really never wear pants when I'm at home. I'd like to say it's because my AC isn't on, but it's mostly because I don't want to wear pants. Saturdays are also difficult days for me to be social when I'm pooped. Massage sometimes makes me pooped.
  • The final is my FAVORITE. I giggle every time I read it. Cougars. rwar.

Are you addicted to your phone? If you're not, do yo have advice on how can I cut back a bit? Or is my addiction perfectly acceptable? *fingers crossed* pleasesayyes.

this week's mani [and a wiener]

When I say "wiener" I definitely mean "winner." Please stay tuned.

This week, I painted my nails blue. Then topped the blue with white and a little glitter. I haven't gone a fully week sans glitter in awhile. It's either on my fingers or my toes. Almost 30-year-olds can wear glitter, right? It's not in the same vein as pigtails?
Untitled Untitled
[Sorry to pigtail wearers, I would be one of you had I not read a scathingly awesome post on fb from a friend which chastised adult women with pigtails. How do we feel about adult women with pigtails around here?]

Now for the wiener:

If my counting is correct numero quatro is:

I'm with Megan. Hank posts are the best. It's like getting to hang out with him but without all the fur. And I know from living with him that he sheds a lot. That bee hat is still cruel. But I love you and so does Hank despite the hats.

Rachel, get ahold of me! Let me know how you want your box o' happiness!

it crossed my mind

  • I love it when you use a new shampoo/conditioner and you can smell your hair all day.
  • Dena Carter Strawberry Wine: this album was my transition to woman-hood. I know one single solitary album cannot take credit over the many events, people, and experiences that have made me a woman, but this album is part of making me feel like a woman. When any song from the album come up in my random iTunes playing it makes me feel the mystery of it all again.
  • This summer has been HOT. Like, sweat dripping down your back as soon as you step out of the house hot. I haven't turned on my air conditioning in my apartment yet [or in my car unless I'm driving 50+ mph]. Last summer when I was in Tennessee, my body acclimated to the heat and I didn't hate it. So, as this summer has heated up, I've allowed myself the time to be in air conditioning at work and at Starbucks and other places I go, but when I step out I feel the heat sink into my bones and I love that feeling. When I'm home? I'm pretty much in my undies and sweating. I like it.
  • When it's too hot to get by with just a fan on me as I sleep? THE AC IS COMING ON.
  • I have made several references to this YouTube video and no one knows it. You must watch:
  • Where my mother-fathers at?
  • Me, driving in the country: I love the country, I could live in the country. Look at all the space! Look at the fields! Look at the nature!
  • Me, driving in a cute, small town: I could totally live in a sweet, little town like this. Look a non-chain grocery! Look at the courthouse! So homey! I could ride a bike here! What beautiful houses! It feels safe!
  • Me, driving in my city: I love the city. It's so great that I can walk places! Look at all the restaurants to choose from! Look at all the interesting churches! Look at the parks! Look at the trails! Look at the coffee-shops!
  • Needless to say, I have future-dwelling-place schizophrenia. Or I'll be happy just about anywhere as long a there's a Target within an hour.
  • Speaking of Target...I went in today to get candy for work. Did I head directly toward the candy aisle? No. I went through the clothes...then I went through the shoes...which led me to the baby clothes [found a cute outfit for the nephew]...and then I went to the candy. I spent $30 when I should have spent $0. Other people have this problem with Target, right?
  • Whenever I hear "Manchester University" I inwardly cringe. I hate it. I'm trying not to [lie]. It will forever be Manchester College in my heart and on my car's tramp stamp.
Untitled
  • Now I'm listening to Manchester College choir sing on my iTunes. "If you would win my heart, sing me a love song...if you would mourn me and bring me to God. Sing me a requiem. Sing me to heaven."
  • I need a choir.
  • This week's mani didn't photograph well, but I'm really liking it.
Untitled Untitled Untitled
Pink on the whole nail, orange crossing it, topcoat, Essie matte crossing the opposite of the orange. It's subtly interesting, if I do say so myself. And I do. Thanks future winner for letting me borrow your polish.
  • Three of my favorite Instagrams that I haven't shared with you non-Instagrammers. I will never not love over-processed phone pictures.

cuddly kitteh

This summer has been cray-cray.

When I say "cray-cray" I mean that I'm gone all the time.

I leave Hank alone at home at least [at least] one night a week. This is the luxury of cat-ownership. They can be semi-independent when left with plenty of food and drink and a clean litterbox...supposedly. Unless you have a cat who is highly co-dependent then when you are actually home your cat will want to be on you and with you at all times.

By "you" I mean "me" and by "your cat" I mean "Hank."

I may have done a mid-week manicure after a stop by CVS where I found THE BEST GLITTER POLISH EVER. It's by Confetti and called Tazmanian Devil. Did you know that I love glitter? Because I do in case you were wondering.

I also love Hankity-pankity pants.

500 seems like a lot

Oh my-lanta.
This is my 500th post. Does that seem high to anyone else? I had enough to share 500 times?
WEIRD.
INTERESTING. [I hope. I try.]
CAT-FILLED.

I've now been blogging since June 3, 2009. WHAT THE WHAT?!?! Freals [still trying to make it happen, people], it doesn't feel like that at all. I've mentioned how much I love keeping this online journal and sharing my life with all you internet friends. In many ways, when I've felt lonely and been in transition YOU have been my people. I appreciate your kind words, calls, comments, suggestions, participation, texts, facebook messages, and encouragement more than I can even say.

Some of you have been around since waaaay before 2009, some around the same time this started, some of you I've picked up along the way, some have come and gone, some are random visitors, some of you lurk anonymously, and I'm sure for one or two of you this is your first time.
I LOVE YOU ALL.
It's not even effort-filled love; it's easy fill-my-heart-with-sunshine love.

In honor of my 500th post I decided to show you 10 of my favorite posts in completely random order. There's also a little something special for you to try to win if you like snail mail. (-:

this week's mani

I'm into polka-dots. I can't help it. They're cute. They're fun. They're cute.

Did I mention cute?

I like cute.
Untitled Untitled Untitled
Inspired by this creation on a dark brown, I decided to dot on nude nails. It makes them lighter for summer. I was feeling the need to be light this week. Light and cute apparently. (-:

I use an embossing tool [$2.99 at Hobby Lobby--and a 40% off coupon] for my dotting tool, but here are some ideas from The Beauty Department if you can't find an embossing tool.

Sorry, I don't have much to say today. I've been crafting for HOURS on my adorable nephew's birthday present. It's only partially done. If you're not my brother or SIL you can look at it. Things are to come...I'll show you when it's done. The baby is 9 days from being a one-year-old! eeee!
