Everyone, I MEAN ERRRRYONE, is talking about Making a Murderer on Netflix. I have yet to click on it...because I can't stop watching Switched at Birth.
You know, the ABC Family show where two 16-year-old girls discover they were switched at birth and the super-white Midwest family raising the dark-haired Latina girl and the Latina family living on the rough side of Kansas City raising a pale ginger baby meet each other. OH--AND the ginger girl is deaf. Just to add to the mix.
Pawblo is obsessed. It's almost too much drama for me, but I've forced myself through 3 seasons [I'm almost to season 4!] just for him. He's so high maintenance.
The thing with watching this much ASL is that I'm pretty sure in the dark recesses of my mind, I can DO some signing...except I can sign like 4 words. OK? YES? NO? MAD. [this one is on the show all the time, did I mention drama?] And I'm pretty sure anyone who talks excessively with their hands is actually doing ASL.
Does this make me weird?
I almost wish it were Spanish and I was picking up some words on that front because that would actually be helpful in my life. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

'sup hank?
When my mom found out I was coming home for spring break she arranged it so my brother would bring Hank out to stay with us.
You may imagine our joyus reunion: he hears my voice, we spot each other from across the room, we run toward each other, and he jumps into my arms!
Well, keep imagining. He's still a cat after all.
It took him two days to come out of hiding and find me.
I will say, the nephew is pretty terrifying.
I will say, the nephew is pretty terrifying.
Look at that face. Too much toddler could scare any creature. (-:
When they had to go back to school he spent most of his time hanging out. Gazing out windows. Running away from Daisy [back when Daisy stayed at my brother's it was Hank who tortured her]. Teasing the dogs by staying inside the screen door and then running away as soon as they barked.

the list
Hank's list of neuroses and neediness:
- He loves closets, if you don't want hair on EVERYTHING close the door.
- He knows how to worm his way in if you don't latch doors.
- He will build a nest, well, several nests.
- He will never run outside. It is scary.
- He will timidly poke his head outside and then run INSIDE because outside is scary.
- He will stay in his cat bed, but he will use it more if you put it on your bed.
- He can only have a small container of wet cat food. IF you choose to purchase some, get the kind that is orange plastic (I don't know the brand) and a fish flavor. This is the only kind where he will eat the entire container.
- He is not picky about dry food, but he prefers the cheap stuff to the organic, healthy stuff.
- He is meticulous about cleaning and using his litterbox. He will "clean" the walls surrounding the areas as well.
- Use clumping litter in his Roll'n Clean Litter Box. <---favorite favorite--="" litterbox="">---favorite>
- His cleaning tendencies spill over to the area around his food bowl. This is why he can't have too much wet food, he will clean and clean and clean and then dump it over.
- As he "cleans" he will also drag anything he can find to cover the food clothes, papers, magazines, bags, anything.
- He will try to clean/cover any of your food you leave out on the floor as well.
- He doesn't eat people food.
- He will beg and prowl around your legs if you're cutting cucumbers. He LOVES cucumbers.
- He will let you know when his food or water is empty. He'll yowl at you and then lead you to his dish.
- If he throws up, he'll try to cover it up.
- He likes to be combed. He'll roll on to each side so you can get his sides with the furminator. He will preen after because he's beautiful.
- He wants to talk to you. Feel free to talk back.
- When his eyes dilate, he's going to spaz out. This is your warning.
- He'll let you trim his claws you just have to hold him and be the boss.
- He likes to have his picture taken.
- Feel free to put his bumblebee hat on him. He has a love/hate relationship with the attention.
This is the list I gave Dave before I handed Hank over to him. At least he's with family, so I'll get him back when I can.
The first of many hard goodbyes.
I've been told that my pictures are deceiving about how big he is, is this better to show his baby mountain lion size?

Hank & my birthday card
My mom makes her own cards. She can go a little cray-cray with the paper crafts sometimes, but it's her jam, so who am I to judge? I talked about some of her other craftiness a couple of years ago.

you will probably not be surprised
On Sunday, I woke up.
I went out.
I made a quiche.
I visited friends.
We ate pizza.
We chatted and laughed.
I went home.
My head then hurt like...whoah.
Then it occurred to me: I had not had any caffeine on Sunday. None. Zero. Zip. Zilch.
Hi, my name is amy and I'm addicted to caffeine or I get a massive headache that no amount of peppermint oil [my usual headache insta-cure] will touch.
You're not surprised are you?
Why was I?
It was delicious.
And sweet. Oh, so sweet.
Too sweet actually. I didn't love it.
WHO AM I?!?! Pumpkin spice lattes have always been my jam.
I love the spices, the pumpkinyness, the sweetness, the creamy tastes of fall in my mouth.
Apparently, my pallet has changed. I've become a hard-core coffee girl. I like it dark. I like it slightly sweet. I like cream [but only if real half-and-half or milk is available--none of that powdered creamer crap]. I like it hot. I like it cold. I just like java.
So, after considering my budget and my love for French pressed coffee [if you don't French press you should] I made my own spicy, fall coffee beverage. Here's how I roll:
My French press is small, it's this one from Amazon and is perfect for about 2 mugs of coffee.
My water kettle is from Salvation Army: $3.58.
I love that it's green.
I measure the coffee, but I don't measure the spices. I like one scoop of grounds to 4 oz of water.
A sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. Water in. Steep for 4 minutes. Press. Pour in mug which has sweetener and milk.
Drink. Savor. Fall in love with the spicy parts of fall.
Ahhhh.

Recently, I splurged and got a tall, non-fat pumpkin spice latte. It was delicious.

Hank hates that I'm in school.
I know because he has been the ultimate attention whore.
Why aren't you paying attention to meeeeeee???
Someday I'm going to take pictures with my big-girl camera. And then I'm going to actually upload them onto my computer. And THEN I'm going to use them in a blog post.
Someday.
love you people.
xoxo,
amy

cuddly kitteh
This summer has been cray-cray.
When I say "cray-cray" I mean that I'm gone all the time.
I leave Hank alone at home at least [at least] one night a week. This is the luxury of cat-ownership. They can be semi-independent when left with plenty of food and drink and a clean litterbox...supposedly. Unless you have a cat who is highly co-dependent then when you are actually home your cat will want to be on you and with you at all times.

By "you" I mean "me" and by "your cat" I mean "Hank."
I may have done a mid-week manicure after a stop by CVS where I found THE BEST GLITTER POLISH EVER. It's by Confetti and called Tazmanian Devil. Did you know that I love glitter? Because I do in case you were wondering.
I also love Hankity-pankity pants.
